Measure first
Length times width. A 12 by 16 ft room is 192 sq ft. A 10 by 12 ft single is 120 sq ft. Both are inside what the small units here can handle at 4.8 air changes per hour. Ignore any box that promises 1,000 sq ft or more. Divide that number by 4.8.

- Levoit Core 300. Verified performance, a 24 dB sleep mode per the listing, and display lights that turn off, which a roommate will thank you for. Filters are easy to find. The caveat: no air quality sensor on the base model.

Before move-in
